The Barak5 breaks the 300sqm/hr speed barrier at drupa'08

Rosh Ha'ayin, Israel, May 22, 2008 - Matan, the original innovator of the Super-wide Format (SWF) digital printing industry, presents at drupa 2008, the next generation of its Barak5 - now offering production speed of over 300 m²/hr, while maintaining its versatility and high print quality.

Live demonstrations of the Barak line will be given throughout the show, May 29-June 11, 2008.

It has been less than a year since the Barak line of 5m and 3.5m wide, UV, Hybrid digital printers was launched. Now, Matan proudly introduces the next generation of its Barak5 –enhanced with mechanical and software features, which further leverage its overall performance and benefits.

The Barak Line's Enhanced Benefits
The Barak is a SWF line of digital printers, using UV-curable inks, available in 5m & 3.5m widths, easy to operate and guaranteeing a low Total Cost of Ownership.

The Barak5 offers the following benefits to the end-user:
High Performance: Barak5 incorporates leading print-head technology, featuring 32 print-heads with drop sizes starting at 30 picoliter for high-quality output. Its extended color gamut and flexible inks (Barak UV 300) enable it to target a wide range of demanding applications. The low ink consumption with coverage of up to 180 m²/liter (1940 ft²/liter), and its record-breaking throughput of over 300 m²/hr (3200 ft²/hr) meet the performance requirements of the most advanced print shop.  

Versatility:  Barak is the only 5m wide UV, hybrid printer in the market that handles both flexible and rigid materials, either coated or uncoated.  Its optional Multi-roll feature enables the Barak to easily print on up to three rolls simultaneously, making it the perfect solution for printing in demanding production environments.
In addition, the printer can run at various printing modes from POP quality to billboards beyond 300 m²/hr – no ink switching needed – which saves precious production time as well as significantly improving ink consumption.

Ease of use:  The Barak product line implements Matan's user-friendly approach in both the mechanical and software design, assuring an easy, fast and intuitive workflow.
The machine now features a Multi-Function Vacuum Table, suitable for the most demanding media handling needs and can switch to mesh – in a click, and at virtually no set-up time –thanks to a pneumatic mechanism. Along with a newly implemented motorised head-carriage elevating system, these enhanced features enable users to achieve even higher productivity as well as enhanced printing quality on a wide variety media types, and the easiest way to handle Mesh applications.
A new feeder motor for up to 5m media width is implemented on the feeder rollers for easier Double Side printing applications.

Environmentally Friendly:  In line with Matan’s environmentally friendly philosophy, the Barak line uses UV inks that minimize site preparation requirements, ventilation and disposal.
As a complementary solution for environmentally conscious print providers, Barak users can also easily print on 'green' recyclable media such as Polyethylene (PE).

Low Cost of Ownership:  The Barak offers a competitive Total Cost of Ownership, thanks to a very low level of ink consumption (up to 180 m² per 1 liter of ink), minimal media waste (about 35cm only, during media loading), and the overall ease of machine operation which enables our customers to maximize production at lower costs..
Now, with its 32 print heads, the Barak5 offers almost double throughput (over 300 m²/hr) and extends the machine's production potential to new levels, without compromising the printout's quality.

In addition, Matan will exhibit the flagship of its Thermal Transfer product line – the Matan SprinG³, which will be demonstrated throughout the show.
The SprinG³ is an industrial 12 inch (30 cm), Roll-to-roll digital printer, designed for fast, durable, short runs with vivid colors for Labels, Decals, Membranes, Traffic and other Signs.
Printed samples of tags, labels and different signs will be available on-site to illustrate the printer's unique output on a wide variety of media.

Matan's Thermal Transfer product line also features the Matan Spot4 - A unique, industrial 36'' wide (91.5 cm) digital printer, perfect for short-run productions of window decoration and traffic applications.
The Spot4 enables printing up to 4 colors in one pass using special "etching" ink for imitating traditional sandblasting and creating permanent and customized images on glass.
